A magical day from May 2024!! I can't believe that this day was already so long ago, because the memories are still so fresh in my mind. Sophia and Caedmon are the definition of clients-turned-friends. Only a few days prior to this photoshoot, S+C hired me to photograph their charming backyard wedding in Northern California at the house where Sophia grew up. I love a venue with whimsy- backyards, bed+breakfasts, and cottage weddings have my heart, so to say that their day was so emotional in the best way would be a dire understatement. Anyways! This cutie couple and I clicked so well during the planning process for their wedding that they decided to have me come out to the coast to document some honeymoon memories at a place very close to their hearts- Stinson Beach, CA. As this was my first time shooting at this particular beach, I got there hours early to scout, understand lighting, and so forth. Even with that said, some of the greatest parts of these types of photoshoots are all of the things that planning could never reveal. About halfway through the session, when low tide began to make it's appearance for the evening, we took it as an opportunity to swing around the cliffy corner at the end of the sand, where we stumbled upon a private, open beach with massive rock formations that made for some of the coolest, abstract-y images I have gotten out of a shoot in a minute. Spontaneity can take you to such neat places if you have the ability to step back and let it lead.
Sophia had mentioned to me while planning this honeymoon photoshoot that she had a wish to get some images at the edge of a cliff, overlooking the ocean. As the grandiose of the sea had always captivated S+C and played a role in their lives together, it was only correct that we got a few images that truly captured the mightiness of the Pacific to round out their gallery. After a lot of Google-mapping from afar and calls to the couple, we settled on the most gorgeous, private spot where the newlyweds got to take in the salty winds of the California coast one last time before embarking on their new journey in Texas. They were sooo sweet that afterwards, they even treated me to some fish tacos from their favorite seaside restaurant, it was the most darling gesture and I loved being able to sit down and chat with them before their big move.
Congratulations and blessings to the Wright couple!!
