The Dunn Wedding, October 2024

This wedding had me emotional both while shooting and editing it, and now again as I write about it. The only thing that feels more sacred than preserving the memories of a wedding is having the honor of doing it for lifelong friends. This thought echoed in my mind throughout the entire day, and I believe it became the driving force behind every shot I took. One of the most unique and beautiful aspects of wedding photography is that by the end of a project, I feel as though I truly know the people I’ve worked with. Whether they’re old friends or new, once the wedding day is over and the gallery is delivered, I feel like I understand them better than ever—what matters most to them, who means the most to them, where holds the most meaning for them, and so on.

Curating a wedding gallery is so much more than just showing up on the day and going down a checklist; it’s about stepping into the minds and hearts of those involved and striving to reflect that, as best as humanly possible, from an observer’s perspective. I wrote about this on my Instagram in a way that I thought summed up the feeling well, so I’m sharing it here too:

It really is not always about chasing or manufacturing

"picture perfect" moments. Sometimes, it's about getting into the grit

of the day and just being there to keep record of it. Drinks and cupcakes

abandoned for dancing, gnarly laughs shared between friends, family, and

strangers, cheek-staining tears, embarking on a new journey while also taking in a feeling so familiar and cozy with those you care about most. There is depth in even the most lighthearted aspects of a wedding day, and I am discovering that the trick is to simply capture it all.

This was just a handful of captures from a day full of celebrating love.

Brand new love, old love, familial love, platonic love, FUN LOVE.
